“We got a report of an accident at Black Thunder Mine. There had been an accident involving the Shovel, and apparently, two Ford F 350 Pickups. Our initial investigation determined that there was no criminal activity, or no criminal incidents involved there.”---Pownall
Pownall said the accident has been turned over to the Mine Safety and Health Administration who did arrive on scene. Killed in that accident was a 24-year-old male from Upton. As of this morning, a 38-year-old Wright man was in the hospital. Pownall did not have a status update on his condition.
