Madison Pipeline - Lane Closures

003  Public Information Officer for the City of Gillette Joe Lunne says the parallel Madison Pipeline work is going well along Skyline Drive.  Lunne also says very soon the project will make a turn east down Southern Drive.  The change will result in some important traffic information for the public to be prepared for.

"When that happens we are going to close the two southern lanes of Southern Drive for about three thousand feet at a stretch."---Lunne

Lunne says the lane closure will creep east from Highway 50 to the water tank visible on Southern Drive. He adds the public should anticipate a reduced speed limit in that area during that time and be very mindful for the safety of construction workers.  It will also be important for the operators of over-sized vehicles to be aware of the project.

"We will probably be utilizing signage for over-sized vehicle to take a different route."--Lunne

Rock Road west of Highway 50 will also be impacted. Lunne says the road will be closed for about two weeks beginning Tuesday, September 18th.

Westover Road (Right lane closure near Burma Avenue) The
right turn lane on westbound Westover Road at Burma Avenue will be closed while crews work on horizontal directional drilling beginning Friday, September 14th for approximately four weeks.  Drivers should keep an eye out for machinery and construction workers in this area.

Southern Drive (Lane closures) Crews will be boring steel pipe along Southern Drive, east of Enzi Drive.  In addition, crews will also be installing pipeline along Southern Drive from Highway 50 eastbound.  This means for 3000'  both eastbound lanes of Southern Drive will be closed for from Monday, September 17th through September 21st, and this lane closure will 'travel' east as the crews install pipeline.  The two northern lanes of Southern Drive will be used for two-way traffic, and the speed limit will be reduced to 45 MPH.  Please watch for machinery and crews in this area and give construction workers a brake.

Rock Road Road Road will be closed for approximately two weeks beginning Tuesday, September 18th while crews install the Madison Pipeline and bore under Highway 50 to continue the Madison Pipeline east on Southern Drive.  People who use Rock Road are asked to use an alternative route (Force Road) during the Rock Road closure.
