Earlier this week the Gillette City Council had some discussions on intersection safety and traffic signals and some improvements will be coming soon.
“Councilman (Robin)Kuntz had asked several meetings ago, during the work session, about what we could potentially do to improve the visibility of the four way stop at the Garner Lake Road and Box Elder Road Intersection. And part of that we looked at was installing a flashing red beacon at the four way stop to help alert motorists of the four way stop condition. Garner Lake is a high speed road and it certainly intersects with Box Elder which is a major arterial in our community and we are working to improve the safety of the intersection and hope to have some flashing red beacons put up in the coming weeks.”---Development Services Director, Dustin Hamilton
The council also directed staff to move quickly in fixing a foundation problem with a traffic signal pole in the southwest part of the 4J – Lakeway Road intersection.
“We should be able get two signal foundations upgraded and poles and mast arms complete in the neighborhood of fifty thousand (dollars).”---Hamilton
Hamilton said the project is also expected to improve some handicap accessibility.
“We will also improve the handicap ramps associated with the concrete flatwork with the signal pole replacement.”---Hamilton
