At Tuesday night’s Gillette City Council meeting, the council had recognition of Conoco Phillips Company. Director of Utilities Kendall Glover said the recognition came in regard to the Madison Pipeline project. Glover told the council that on a routine basis they meet with landowners to secure easements for the proposed route of the pipeline. Glover said one of the landowners, Conoco Phillips Company, was very generous with land given a fair market value of over $10 K.
“To our pleasant surprise, Conoco Phillips said, ‘We don’t want to charge you that. We want to be a part of the success of Gillette. We want to donate that. We won’t be charging you anything for that easement –well, only a dollar!’ We were very pleasantly surprised.”
Planning and Scheduling Supervisor for Conoco Phillips Company, Scott Lockwood, said it was their pleasure to help out Gillette.
“I’m sure it’s going to be very successful. And personally, I just want to thank each and every one of you for what you’re doing for the City, and for the State of Wyoming. It really is appreciated.”
