For the last three years, and for six years prior to that, it has been my distinct honor to serve as the Mayor and City Councilman for the City of Gillette. In that time, we have seen 40 million dollars’ worth of arterial roads constructed in the City of Gillette, provided opportunities for expansion of our retail district, set the foundation for protection of our oil, gas and coal jobs, reviewed construction codes, entered the new agreement for the operation of Cam-Plex and its annexation, implemented contractor licensing to protect homeowners against unscrupulous contractors, expanded educational opportunities and facilitated the financing of the Madison water project.
For the last nine years, the City of Gillette has been foremost on my lifetime agenda. No one knows what twists and turns life has to offer. For the last few years, I have been working two jobs, managing a car wash and being Mayor of the City of Gillette. Very recently, my son and I were offered a business opportunity which we cannot ignore. These opportunities come very rarely in life, and the chance to work with my son and operate a family-owned business is an opportunity of a lifetime.
I cannot devote the efforts necessary to the operation of a new business venture and effectively continue in my position as Mayor of the City of Gillette. For the greater benefit of the people of Gillette, I now tender my resignation as Mayor, effective Monday, November 25th, 2013, at 10:00 a.m.
Words cannot express the pride I feel in having had this opportunity to serve my friends and neighbors in the City of Gillette. Thank you for the confidence and trust in me these many years.
