At about 3:54 a.m. on Thursday November 28, 2013 Officers with the Gillette Police Department were dispatched to 3210 Alberta Drive after a female reported that her boyfriend had just been shot by someone who had knocked at their front door. She reported that the person who shot her boyfriend had left the area. Officers arrived several minutes later and located a twenty-five year old man who had been shot. The man, 25 year old Matthew Ryan Boyer was transported to the Campbell County Memorial Hospital Emergency Room where he was pronounced dead.
Officers learned that Boyer had been involved in a dispute prior to the incident and of others involved in the dispute. As Officers interviewed witnesses Thursday morning, a vehicle that was being sought in connection with the homicide was spotted by law enforcement near Rapid City South Dakota. They attempted to stop that vehicle and it fled. The vehicle was stopped near Chamberlain South Dakota and the driver, 21 year old Todd Michael Sindelar of Gillette was taken into custody.
Officers processed two scenes in Gillette and the vehicle in South Dakota. As a result of the investigation Sindelar has been charged with one count of First Degree Murder.
