At 12:33 am on December 5th, deputies with the Campbell County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the 1500 block of East Second Street. A 23-year-old female reported that she had been strangled by her 36-year-old boyfriend. Investigator Gary Sams said that according to the report, the couple had been out drinking and eventually started to argue about the man's teenage daughter. The situation allegedly escalated to the point where the man was on top of the women while strangling her.
Both the daughter and woman also reported the man told the victim he would kill her. Sams said the man's daughter eventually was able to convince the suspect to stop strangling the woman. The suspect fled the scene and was later located by a Gillette Police Officer at a local convenience store. The 36-year-old was arrested and taken to the Campbell County Detention Center as a felony strangulation of a household member suspect.
