At 7:47 pm on January 7th, the Gillette Police Department responded to a report of a burglary on the 1900 block of Shalom Ave. Sergeant Joe Baird said a 43-year-old woman reported that a 23-year-old man had fled the residence after being discovered by her 17-year-old son. The suspect allegedly entered the residence after following the woman home from the area of Albertson's grocery store. He was later contacted by police who asked him why he was in the family's residence. He allegedly responded his planned to “lay them low” and “set a fire”, among other things.

The male admitted to using methamphetamine earlier in the day. He was arrested for burglary and use of a controlled substance.
