On January 19th, at 2:34 pm, emergency responders were dispatched to the Campbell County Recreation Center. Gillette Police Sergeant Tracy Overton said a 24-year-old female was injured after an accident at the rock climbing wall. According to a police report, the woman was belaying for a 39-year-old male.
He reportedly asked the woman if she was ready for him to fall. Overton said after a free fall at about half way through his descent from the top, the man came down on the woman's neck and shoulder. According to Overton, the woman said she must not have been holding on tight enough. Se was transported by EMS to Campbell County Memorial Hospital. Overton was not able to provide an update on her condition.
