Gillette, WY – With the end of winter in sight and spring wild turkey hunting season right around the corner the Wyoming Game and Fish Department would like to remind new hunters, young and old alike, that now is the time to enroll for hunter education classes. To enroll in a hunter education class one just needs to hop onto the Wyoming Game and Fish Department website (http://wgfd.wyo.gov). Once there, under the “EDUCATION” tab on the left hand side of the web page, go to “Hunter Education” and then to “Course Schedule” to sign up for the class that fits your schedule.
Hunter education classes are taught year round in Wyoming but few classes are taught in the months just preceding and during the hunting season, so now is the time to enroll. Gillette Game Warden Dustin Kirsch had the following to say, “Gillette is very lucky in that we have a committed cadre of hunter education instructors who volunteer their time to teach several hunter education classes throughout each year. Without this volunteer force, getting new hunters in the field would not be possible, so our thanks go out to each and every one of them!” Wyoming law requires that, “…no person born on or after January 1, 1966 may take wildlife by the use of firearms on land other than that of his own family…”, unless that person has completed a certified hunter education course or is enrolled in the hunter mentor program.
