Man Credited With Rescuing Woman From Attacker

A little after 7 last night, the Gillette Police Department responded to McDonald's in Gillette. According to a police report, a 46-year-old man ( Lawrence Daly) was physically attacking his 35-year-old girl friend, when a 32-year-old man in the drive-through came to the woman’s rescue.

 “ He exited his vehicle and actually pulled the man off of the woman. The 46-year-old then made a movement while saying that he had a gun and that he would shoot the 32 year old witness.”

 Police Lieutenant Brent Wasson said officers arrived and made contact with the suspect as he was walking away. The female reported pain in her head and told officers that the confrontation began earlier at a convenience store. She also reported that the man had been in possession of a 45-caliber pistol and had threatened to shoot her if she were to drive away from him. The firearm was not found on the suspect so a K-9 was brought in to assist.

 “ The K-9 located a 45 caliber high point pistol and a shoulder holster in two separate locations along the sidewalk and bushes between McDonald's and the Flying J”

Wasson said this morning several charges are pending beyond the alleged assault.

 “ Kidnapping, reckless endangering and it appears the 46 year old man may have been in unlawful possession of the firearm which would make carrying it concealed a crime.”
