Just after 1 am on February 14th, the Campbell County Sheriff's Office responded to the 7100 block of Robin Drive. Campbell County Sheriff Bill Pownall said his agency received a report of a family fight in progress. Deputies were told that a 37-year-old Steven Saathoff had threatened to shoot his 58-year-old mother.
"Supposedly he was attempting to go for a gun when the officers arrived but was obviously not allowed to do so."---Pownall
The man's mother reported that her son had strangled her until she blacked out. Steven Saathoffman (37) was taken to the Campbell County Detention Center on a felony charge of strangulation of a household member. Pownall said the man also received a misdemeanor interference charge.
"He went into the kitchen area and deputies kept telling him not to."---Pownall
Pownall said a deputy was concerned the suspect would be able to access some type of weapon from the kitchen and pursued the suspect. Pownall said the suspect allegedly shoved the deputy and assumed a fighting stance.
"And that is when the deputy immediately took him to the ground. He was taken into custody."---Pownall
