Traffic Accident Leads To Taser Arrest

GPD-Patch-FixedYesterday evening the Gillette Police Department responded to the four hundred block of Rohan Ave, where a 37-year-old driver was accused of trying to flee an accident. According to a police report a 31-year-old resident heard a loud noise and went outside to investigate.

“He observed a nineties model gray Nissan pickup spinning its tires attempting to leave the area. He contacted the thirty seven year old male driver of that vehicle who was telling the witness that he wanted to leave”---Wasson

Officers arrived on scene.  Gillette Police Lieutenant Brent Wasson said the man told officers he was driving too fast for conditions, which caused him to loose control and impact a parked vehicle, which in turn impacted another parked vehicle.

“While officers were investigating the driver continued to reach into his pocket was making nonsensical statements and at one point swung at officers in an attempt to fight with them. When officers were trying to gain control of the man they deployed a Taser.”---Wasson

The suspect was checked out by EMTs and then taken to the detention center. He was charged with interference and cited for diving too fast for conditions.
