At about 3:30 am on February 25th, the Campbell County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence on Peaceful Valley Drive. It was reported that a mattress had been set on fire outside a residence. Under-Sheriff Scott Matheny said an officer arrived to find the partially burned mattress still smoldering. A 32-year-old female exited a trailer and said that a 36-year-old man had set the mattress on fire.
The 32-year-old said the man was upset at his girlfriend's alleged infidelity, so he burned the mattress. The 36-year-old man was not at the residence during the investigation. The sheriff's deputy stood by while the fire department cleaned up the scene.
