The Campbell County Historical Society invites the public to attend a presentation by local basketball star Gwen Reed about her professional basketball career and her time with the All American Red Heads basketball team.
Reed played basketball for the Camels from 1971 to 1974 and went to Chadron State College where she played from 1974 to 1978. While there, Gwen set scoring records that held for twenty years and she was one of the first two women inducted into the Chadron State College Athletic Hall of Fame.
Reed played for “Moore’s All-American Red Heads” for the 1978-1979 season. During that season the Red Heads played 143 games. They won 127 games and lost 16. Reed averaged 20 points per game and lead in assists. She also received an award for being the “Campbell County Athlete of the Year” in 1979.
This event is free and refreshments will be provided.
