It is not unheard of for local law enforcement to receive REDDI reports. REDDI stands for Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately. What is unique is to have the suspect in a REDDI report, and the reporting party, be the same person. This was allegedly the case last night.
Gillette Police Lieutenant Brent Wasson said that on April 2nd at about 9:00 pm, officers responded to the Flying J Truck Stop after a 41-year-old man called himself in as a drunk driver. Police contacted the man in a vehicle, who allegedly had an open bottle of vodka with him. Wasson said officers detected the smell of alcohol coming from the man. The man was allegedly showing signs of intoxication as well. Although the man admitted to officers on scene that he had been drinking the vodka, he refused to be put through “maneuvers”.
Wasson said the suspect was given a breathalyzer test and later arrested for driving under the influence. He was also sited for open container.
