At last night's Campbell County School Board Meeting trustees received a facilities update from Associate Superintendent of Instructional Support Dr. Alex Ayres. The main focus of discussion was where the district's next elementary school should be located.
“The Board of Trustees approved the old Stocktrail site as the next additional school in Campbell County. It is anticipated that we will receive design funding here in the next weeks or months and we will begin design of a next school on that site.”---Ayers
Besides the next new school to be built at the old Stocktrail site there is still more preparation for growth needed. Ayers talked about a capacity study that was completed in late March.
“The study called for three additional elementary schools over the next five years. At this point we of course are placing the first school on the Stocktrail site, followed by investigating land opportunities throughout the community. We certainly recognize the growth in the south east portion of the town, we see the growth near Buffalo Ridge Elementary, so we will be looking at property throughout the city but certainly looking at the south east.”---Ayers
