A 34 year old Gillette man was arrested yesterday as a suspect in a felony aggravated assault. Investigators say the man is accused of holding a butcher knife to a child's hand. Allegedly the suspect threatened to cut off the fingers of a 12 year old girl as punishment for stealing a Nintendo DS. Gillette Police sergeant Dirk Blackmer said the child was not cut in the incident.

Items taken during the thefts include two leather jackets, electronic equipment, a 2 inch nickel plated 357 Smith and Wesson model #60, Taylor made golf clubs, cash, checks and debit/credit cards.

Yesterday during the 3 O'Clock hour the Gillette Police Department responded to the intersection of Butler Spaeth and Monte Vista for a motorist assist. A sixteen year old driver was unable to exit her vehicle or free the car from some fresh concrete that she had driven into. Police Lieutenant Brent Wasson said that the concrete had just been finished and the area was not yet coned off. The vehicle had to be towed out of the concrete. The City of Gillette Engineering Division will host a workshop to outline the changes in the updated 2012 Standard Construction Specifications, Design Standards and 2011 Storm Drainage Design Manual (all to be released in early 2013).
The workshop will take place Wednesday, Nov. 7 beginning at 5:30 p.m. It will be held in the City Council Chambers, located on the 1st floor of City Hall, 201 E. 5th St., Gillette, WY 82716.

On November 1st, Youth Emergency Services Inc. would like you to attend a community forum at the Campbell County Library from 4-6 pm. The general public is invited for input on what the agency is doing well, and what it could do better. YES House Development Director Tatyana Walker said the agency is also eager to hear from the public about what additional services they may be able to provide to Northeast Wyoming. The input provided will be used in the development of a strategic plan for the agency.
