Sheridan¾The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking information leading to the apprehension of those responsible for the illegal killing of four buck mule deer in Sheridan County.
Two buck deer were discovered in the Dayton area on November 18th. One buck was killed on private land along Columbus Creek and only the head was removed. The other buck, killed on private land off the Slack Road near Parkman, had its head and a small amount of meat removed. Both deer were believed to have been killed the evening of November 16th.
Two more buck deer were discovered poached over the Thanksgiving Holiday south of Sheridan. One buck was shot and left near Ucross and another was shot and left on the Buffalo Run State Land. Both deer are believed to have been killed November 19th.
Sheridan Game Warden Rob Hipp says in all cases, the killing of these mature buck deer was very disturbing. “The individuals responsible for the senseless death of these four buck deer obviously have no respect for the wildlife resource, or landowners in the Sheridan area. Hopefully, someone will come forward with information that will lead to a conviction.”
A cash reward is available for evidence leading to the arrest and conviction of any person violating Wyoming statute 23-3-107(a), wantonly taking or destroying a big or trophy game animal.
Hipp asks that anyone with information regarding this or any other wildlife violations contact the Sheridan Regional Office at 307 672-7418 or call the Stop Poaching Hotline at (877) WGFD TIP - (877) 943-3847. Callers can remain anonymous. http://gf.state.wy.us/stoppoaching
