The Renegades U12 Girls team competed in the Spearfish Winter Classic. They competed in the Gold division, and Coach Jared Golinveaux says the girls played hard in all three games games but came up short. They ended up going 0-3 again some very good teams from Rapid City, Spearfish, and Pierre.
The Renegades U12 Boys competed in the Cowboys Turf Wars soccer tournament this past weekend. The boys went 2-1 in pool play action defeating Lander and Casper and losing to Laramie. They qualified for championship play on Sunday and faced Gillette Soccer Club in the semi-finals defeating them 6 - 4. The boys had many chances in front of the net and played very good team defense to dispatch the GSC team. In the end, the 6 goals were enough to move on for one more game. Coach Mark Shrum reported, "the game against our rival team was a good match that displayed good soccer players on both sides with the Renegades coming out on top."
In the championship game, the Renegades faced the Laramie team that had previously beaten them during pool play action. The final game was a tremendously rewarding game for the players on the Renegades team. The final score was 11 -3. The Renegades dominated the final match from beginning to end. The team played fearlessly, constantly attacking a good Laramie team and keeping pressure on them. "We have been working on attacking and quick transitions in practices," said Coach Mark Shrum.
Many of the boys recently completed a soccer training program with Rob Hill, during the Christmas break. "I think the players were confident following the training with Rob. But what is exciting, is how much the increased soccer knowledge and experience is helping the boys play a more effective and efficient style of soccer," said Coach Shrum. The boys scored 44 goals against 19 allowed over five games. Next up for the Renegades is the Razor City Royal Rumble this weekend at the CCPRD Fieldhouse.
