The Gillette Camel Football team is ranked second in Class 4A, heading into the season, after a statewide vote among media members. Natrona County is ranked first.
The Mustangs received eleven first place votes, while the Camels received two. Gillette got eight second-place votes, two third place votes, and one fifth place votes.
The Mustangs beat the Camels, 35-7, in last year's Class 4A State Title game. The two teams play, this season, on Friday, September 20, in Natrona County.
Campbell County opens its season, next Friday, in Casper against fifth-ranked Kelly Walsh. They'll host an under-the-lights scrimmage, tomorrow night at 6, which is open to the public. The cost of admission is a canned or non-perishable food item, which the team will donate to a local Soup Kitchen.
