The Gillette Camel football team improved its record to 2-0, Friday night, with a 52-13 win over Evanston in their home opener.
Gillette raced out to a 35-0 lead in the first fifteen minutes of game time, before the game was delayed by a severe thunderstorm.
Quarterback Austin Fort got his first action of the season, and gained over 120 yards on 7 carries, including first-half touchdown runs of 49 and 46 yards.
Halfback Dustin Erisman also rushed for over 120 yards, for the Camels, as he got five carries, starting in place of Tychun Aipperspach, who sat out with an injured hamstring.
The Camels will be on the road, next week, against Cheyenne Central. Cheyenne Central trounced Cheyenne South, 41-7, last night.
In other Class 4A scores, Cheyenne East knocked off top ranked Natrona County, 42-41, in triple overtime. Sheridan downed Kelly Walsh, 26-10, and Laramie topped Rock Springs, 18-14.
Elsewhere, Upton-Sundance opened its season with a 40-6 win over Moorcroft.
