Gillette, Wyo.--The (#1) Gillette Camels (13-2, 3-0) spread the wealth around beyond the arc on Friday night, as six Camels made at least one three-pointer in the 83-50 victory over the Cheyenne East Thunderbirds (4-10, 1-1).
It was a fast-paced, close first quarter, with Gillette taking a 22-19 lead into the second quarter of the game. The T-birds were able to stay with Gillette in the first stanza off of Cameron Johnson's three triples in the period.
The Camels ended up having success from three-point land, too. Gillette made 8 treys in the first half. The three pointers and the five of six shooting from the charity stripe in the first half, helped give the Camels a 47-29 lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Camels went into cruise control, as they were able to score in the paint and underneath at will. Gillette a 68-42 lead at the end of the third quarter
Halfway through the fourth quarter, the Gillette players off the bench saw quality minutes, with Darian Long coming in to join the three-point club on the evening. Gillette led by as much as thirty points in the game and with a strong defense, held the Thunderbirds to eight points in the fourth quarter.
Cody Kelley led Gillette with 18 points; Johnson led the T-birds with15 in the game.
