Gillette, Wyo.-- The #1 Gillette Camels (16-2, 6-0) knew they would be facing a zone defense against the Cheyenne South Bison (8-11, 1-5) during Senior Night on Friday. Gillette responded with a 9-0 run to start the game off three triples en route to a 74-45 victory at the Castle of Chaos.
Cody Kelley, Michael Cook and Logan Wasson each made a three-pointer in that 9-0 open. Gillette finished the game with nine successful buckets beyond the arc.
The Bison kept it to a respectable, 18-11 ballgame in favor of Gillette after the first quarter.
The Gillette defense held the Bison to just six points in the second quarter. However, the Camels offense scored 22 points in the second stanza, the most out of the four quarters. It was 40-19 in favor of Gillette at halftime.
In the second half, the camels scored 11 points from the line. The team finished the game 16 for 20 from the charity stripe. Every Camel player got to play in the game and 11 of the 13 of them put points on the scoreboard. Kelley had the game high of 21 points.
The Bison were led by Isaiah Sims and Robert Dilsaver-both finished with nine points. Gillette held Kyhler Cummings, South's leading scorer with an average of 14.3 points-per-game, to just five points.
