ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo.--The Pronghorn women (12-7, 4-2) lost a 67-65 heart breaker to Western Wyoming Community College on Wednesday night in Rock Springs, Wyo.
The Pronghorn women and Western Wyoming College were tied at first place with Northwest College in the Region IX North Sub-Region at 4-1 in conference play.
The Pronghorns led by as many as 12 points in the contest and had a 33-27 advantage at halftime.
In the second half, Gillette College made 13 of its 33 shots from the field (it was 13 for 29 in the first half). The Pronghorns also made four out of five free throws in the second half, as well as two out of seven three-pointers. The Lady Mustangs bested Gillette College in all three of those categories by a couple points. The Lady Mustangs went 16 for 34 from the field, three of seven beyond the arc, and five of 11 at the line.
Northwest College defeated Central Wyoming College, 59-46, on Wednesday night. This puts Western Wyoming Community College and Northwest College at 5-1 in Region IX play. Gillette College falls to 4-2 in Region IX play.
Gillette College lost to Northwest College in Powell, Wyo., 80-70, on Jan. 4th. Both Northwest College and Western Wyoming Community College will play the Pronghorns at the South Campus later in the season.
Gillette College will look to bounce back next Wednesday afternoon with a 5:30pm tip off against Little Big Horn College at the South Campus.
