In a game in which 11 fouls were handed out between the two teams in a five and a half minute period, the #15 Gillette College Pronghorn women (11-1) defeated the Eastern Wyoming College Lancers (3-4), 74-55, on Friday night at the South Campus.
The Pronghorns took a 12-10 lead in the first half and never let go of it. Three Gillette College players finished in double digits and Keke Wright had another double-double on the season. With the exception of Matty Jolovich, who was out due to an injured ankle, all the Pronghorns received playing time.
Gillette College was able to make three-pointers, as it went 5-23 on the night. Even though that is only a 21.7 percent success rate on the night, the Lancers were 0-7 in the game.
The second half had an interesting start to it, as Eastern Wyoming College received six fouls early in the half and the Pronghorns were charged with five. At the end of the game, 47 fouls were handed out. Only Alicia Carline fouled out, yet she contributed with six points in the game for the Pronghorns. Head Coach Tom Anderson of the Lancers was also given a technical in the second half of the contest.
Keke Wright had the game-high 18 points, with Jai Chandler scoring 14 for the Lancers.
The Pronghorn men (6-4) fell to Western Nebraska Friday night, 65-61, at Sheridan College. The men take on Midwest Elite at 3pm at Sheridan College Saturday afternoon.
