Gillette, Wyo.--When you are successful at scoring points without time going off the clock, you will always have a chance in a basketball game. That was the case for the Little Big Horn College Rams (5-13), as they made 15 of 17 free throws in the second half to help give them an 86-85 win over the Pronghorns (9-7) on Saturday night at the South Campus.
The Rams made 82.6 percent of their shots from the charity stripe compared to Gillette College's 55 percent. The Rams were able to make the three-ball as well in the first half, as they made eight of them.
Little Big Horn College had a 50-40 lead at halftime.
Gillette College's defense came alive in the second half on the floor. The Pronghorns held the Rams to eight field goals in the second stanza, however five of them were treys. The Pronghorns finished the game only making 40.5% of its field goals.
Gillette College out-rebounded the Rams. They also had more steals and committed fewer fouls than the Rams. However, the Rams were able to capitalize on the opportunities they did receive from Gillette.
It was a three point buzzer beater by the Rams that gave Little Big Horn College the win.
DJ Marlow of the Ram led all players with 32 points in the game. Urb Bingham, who had a double-double in the game, led the pronghorns with 28 points.
The Pronghorns will play Central Wyoming College on Wednesday at the South Campus at 7:30pm.
