Gillette, Wyo.--The Pronghorns (11-9, 5-4) couldn't finish Saturday night's game at the South Campus against the Sheridan College Generals (19-4, 8-1) the way they started it. The Generals came away with a 70-65 victory over the Pronghorns.
Gillette College started out strong in the first half. Other than a 2-2 tie at the beginning of the game, the Pronghorns led by as many as 10 points a few times in the first half. But the pesky Generals were able to come back and tie it up at 28 and eventually head into the locker room with a 30-30 tie at the end of the half.
In the second half, the Generals and Pronghorns traded blows and the lead see-sawed back and fourth until midway through the period. At that point, Sheridan College had an 11-0 burst off of three triples and a two-point shot to give the Generals the final lead of the game.
The Pronghorns were able to cut it down to four, but just couldn't complete the comeback due to one-and-dones on offense. Sheridan College finished with 45 rebounds, compared to Gillette College's thrity-three. Down the stretch, the Generals took advantage of free throws to keep it out of the Pronghorns reach.
Ron Mvouika of the Generals led all players with 24 points. Andre Marquez and Myles Henry each had 16 points to lead the Pronghorns.
Gillette College goes back on the road Tuesday to play Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington.
