Gillette, Wyo.--The (#18) Gillette College Pronghorn women (19-4, 6-3) handed the (#17) Sheridan College Lady Generals (16-5, 8-1) their first Region IX loss of the season Saturday night. The Pronghorn women also ended Sheridan College's 10-game win streak with the 72-58 victory.
Gillette College lit up the scoreboard by making seven three-pointers in the first half. They also made Sheridan College pay for sending them to the free throw line, making six of the seven shots they took. By halftime, Chelsie Pitt, Keke Wright and Kiela Garner already made 12 or more points each. The Pronghorns led by as much as 20 points and were on top, 43-27, as they went into the locker room.
In the Second half, Gillette College maintained that pace, forcing the Lady Generals to make bucket down low. Sheridan College only made two three-pointers in the game. The Pronghorns took care of the boards, too. Gillette College out-rebounded Sheridan College 48-35 in the game.
Chelsie Pitt led the Pronghorns with 21 points, Jasmine Davis led Sheridan College with 15 points.
The Pronghorn women don't play until Saturday, as they go back on the road to Dawson Community College in Glendive, Mont.
