Four Gillette Post 42 players received accolades this week for end of the year awards.
Riders Austin Tennant and Wyatt Estabrook were named to the First Team All-State Team and Alex King was named to the Second Team All-State Team. Only 12 players throughout Wyoming were named to the first team and 12 players to the second team. Hunter Sylte who played primarily for the Gillette Rustlers was also named to the "A" District Second Team.
Austin Tennant- Returned from college for his last year. Led the team with a .339 batting average, 15 doubles and 44 RBI. Also had a great year on the mound going 4-5 with a team low 2.71 ERA.
Wyatt Estabrook- The Riders ace this summer struck out 100 batters in just 75 innings pitched. He is second all-time in the Riders record books for strikeouts in a season and first all-time for strikeouts in a game with 21. Led the team with 7 wins on the mound.
Alex King- King played in all 73 games this summer, hitting .322. Led the team in on base percentage .485, runs scored 49, 41 walks, 23 hit by pitches, and triples 6. He also stole 25 bases.
Hunter Sylte- Sylte played the majority of the year for the Gillette Rustlers, helping lead them to a 4th place finish at the State Tournament. He also threw 14 innings for the Riders, compiling a 2-0 record on the mound.
"All four of these young men are very deserving of these awards," said Riders head coach Nate Perleberg. "They are all very hard workers and just great people on and off the field." They all had great seasons and most importantly are great teammates."
