WRIGHT, Wyo.--With Kodi French getting the start at quartreback in place of the injured Michael Yeradi, the Wright Panthers (0-3) were able to muster some highlights in the game against the Wheatland Bulldogs (3-0). However, it wasn't enough to get a win.The Bulldogs came away with a 29-6 victory.
Wheatland was able to find the endzone on its first three drive on offense. In the second half, French connected with Daniel Magana, who had a catch and run for 47 yards into the endzone. That was the lone score for Wright.
Despite four touchdowns by the Bulldogs, the defense of the Panthers had a key stop in the final minutes of the second quarter. With a 3rd and goal for the Bulldogs at Wright's 4-yard line, the defensive line stood stong and pushed running back Kirby Cagle back for a loss of three yards. On fourth down, the Defense rushed the Bulldogs again, forcing an incomplete pass and a turnover on downs with 16.9 seconds left in the half.
The Panthers problem with illegal procedures from the week before, was not a problem in Friday's game. Wright only had a couple of penalties throughout the contest against Wheatland.
