Contura Announces Closing of Transaction with Eagle Specialty Materials For Eagle Butte & Belle Ayr Mines

It’s done deal. After three and half months of what will have to go down as one the most topsy turvy bankruptcies ever. on Friday Contura Energy closed the deal with Eagle Specialty Materials for Eagle Butte and Belle Ayr thermal coal mines here in the Powder River Basin,Campbell County. ESM will assume the permits, the leases and the reclamation obligations.

The CEO of Contura Energy, David Stetson said of the deal… “it’s putting the mines in the hands of an operator with a long-term interest in the Powder River Basin, and getting hard-working coal miners back on the job.”
