NWCCD President traveling the service area, connecting with communities
Dr. Walter Tribley became president of Northern Wyoming Community College District in July. In an effort to connect with all of the communities served by the District, he is hosting meet and greet events throughout Sheridan, Campbell and Johnson counties. The next three upcoming events will be in the communities of Kaycee, Big Horn and Wright.
Upcoming events:
Kaycee: Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Kaycee High School
Big Horn: Monday, Nov. 4 from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. at Big Horn High School
Wright: Tuesday, Nov. 5 from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Wright Junior/Senior High School
Tribley is excited to familiarize himself with the unique needs of each community within the District. With over 20 years of experience in higher education, he recognizes the importance of listening to community members as he guides NWCCD forward.
“I’m looking forward to meeting people and getting to know the great communities within our District service area,” Tribley said. “Anyone interested in the future of education in our area is invited to join us.”
These events are free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.
Prior to taking the lead at NWCCD, Tribley served as the superintendent/president of the Monterey Peninsula Community College District since Dec. 2012. His career in higher education started as a faculty member at Seminole Community College in Florida. After earning tenure there and securing the college’s first grant from the National Science Foundation, he joined the University of Florida to teach biotechnology to educators and graduate students.
Tribley came to Monterey Peninsula College after serving in several roles of increasing responsibility at Wenatchee Valley College for approximately 11 years, culminating as vice president of instruction. Wenatchee Valley College is a comprehensive community college in North Central Washington with two campuses within a service district of approximately 10,000 square miles. Tribley has dedicated his career to the mission of community colleges where student success is celebrated, employees are honored, and communities are empowered.
