- The Tanya Tucker Love Me Like You Used To song was released in 1987. Country music star Tanya Tucker first rose to fame in the early 1970’s, when she was just a teenager. Her rock n’ roll style and powerful voice gained Tucker popularity and the status as one of country’s only female singers to be classified as ‘outlaw country’.
After some sales decline in the early 1980s, and her rocky relationship with country star Glen Campbell coming to an end, Tanya’s comeback in the mid-1980s saw a much more upbeat, pop-country sound that re-vamped her popularity.
Her second album after this comeback, Love Me Like You Used To, held three Billboard Top Ten Country singles, including the title track, which peaked at #2.
