A Passenger Has Fallen Overboard on Taylor Swift-Themed Cruise

Written by on October 23, 2024

During a Taylor Swift-themed cruise aboard Royal Caribbean’s “Mariner of the Seas,” a concerning incident occurred as a passenger fell overboard. The themed voyage, known as the “Summer Era Cruise,” was not directly affiliated with Taylor Swift herself but was designed by and for fans, offering various activities centered around her music. While the ship’s itinerary took passengers to destinations like Costa Maya and Cozumel, the overboard incident prompted an emergency response.

Details about the incident remain sparse, including the identity of the individual and the circumstances leading to the fall. However, reports indicated that the ship continued on its original course without any significant disruptions, with efforts focused on the search and rescue operation.

Overboard events are rare but do occur in the cruise industry, often resulting in search challenges and, unfortunately, low rescue success rates

From People Magazine –

The U.S. Coast Guard tells PEOPLE the search for the missing 66-year-old woman, who fell Tuesday night, was still underway Wednesday morning.

A passenger on Royal Caribbean’s Taylor Swift-themed cruise has fallen overboard.

A representative for the U.S. Coast Guard told PEOPLE that the 66-year-old woman fell from the Allure of the Seas ship in the Bahamas, 17 miles north of Nassau, at about 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22.

As of Wednesday morning, rescue crews from both the Coast Guard and Royal Bahamas Defense Force were still looking for the missing woman.

The Coast Guard added that it had diverted an HC-144 airplane crew and a MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter from Air Station Miami to assist with the search.

A passenger on board the ship tells PEOPLE exclusively that rumors of the incident started circulating Tuesday night when what they described as a “lifeboat” was seen circling the boat, which was at a standstill.

A representative for Royal Caribbean told PEOPLE it’s working with local authorities to locate the passenger.

“We are also providing support and assistance to the guest’s family during this difficult time,” the company’s statement said. “To respect the privacy of our guest’s family, we have no additional details to share.”
