Garth Brooks and the Moment He Changed Country Shows Forever

Here’s your Music Story of the Day

In the late ‘80s, country concerts were pretty straightforward—great music, but not a lot of spectacle. They were to say the least, pretty simple.

Then came Garth Brooks, and he changed everything!

When Garth hit the road, he didn’t just perform—he blew the doors open on what a country concert could be.

He brought arena-level energy: running across the stage, wearing a wireless headset, climbing structures, and feeding off the crowd like a rock show. Huge crowd moments!

Songs like Friends in Low Places turned into massive singalongs, creating a connection that went beyond just listening—it became an experience.

At first, some traditionalists weren’t sure about the high-energy style. But fans couldn’t get enough.

Garth didn’t just become one of the biggest stars in country—he helped transform live country shows into the high-energy events fans expect today.

And now, whether it’s a classic act or a hot country artist, that influence is still everywhere.

While I haven’t seen him in concert, I did catch him and Trisha coming off the elevator in the Ramkota in Casper. (Pre Couple days) I was there for a Jaycee convention, and they were performing. They spoke to us, and was pretty nice.

Thanks Garth!
