Jason Aldean provided country music fans with another sneak peek into his forthcoming record, “Georgia.” The hitmaker recently released breakup banger “God Made Airplanes.” The mid-tempo track was penned by John Morgan, Jessi Alexander, and the Warren Brothers’ Brad and Brett Warren. The razor-sharp lyrics convey a narrative about a man struggling to heal a broken heart following a breakup. Throughout the single, Aldean explains why the character wants to escape reality by snagging a one-way ticket to get lost in the clouds. “That’s why god made airplanes | And runways and half priced ticket one ways | If I can get high up off the ground | Ain’t got the wheel can’t turn around |Show me a place without her in it | I’ll be there in a new york minute |Cause if I’m driving I might hit the brakes | That’s why god made airplane | That’s why god made airplanes,” the hitmaker sings in the emotional-driven chorus. The multi-platinum artist has been slowly rolling out material off of “Georgia,” the second installment of his double album. The upcoming collection pays respect to the state that turned him into the person he is today. To date, the singer-songwriter dropped “Whiskey Me Away,” “My Weakness,” “Trouble With a Heartbreak” and “Rock and Roll Cowboy.” “MACON” served as the first part of the 30-piece project and was released in November 2021. The critically acclaimed collection includes the chart-topping anthem “If I Didn’t Love You,” featuring Carrie Underwood. Aldean scored a GRAMMY nomination for Best Country / Group Performance for the smash hit, “If I Didn’t Love You.” The star-studded ceremony will be broadcasted live this Sunday, April 3 on CBS. “Man, these @recordingacademy nominations are hard to get. I have been fortunate to have a few nominations over the years, and we got another one today. I have never won a Grammy, but it’s definitely on my bucket list. Maybe this is our year! Garth Brooks, who is in the midst of his sold-out stadium tour, made some time to give back recently when he teamed with Musicians On Call to help them commemorate the milestone of serving their 1 millionth patient.
The lucky lady is 87-year-old Marianna Mishik, a Staten Island, New York native who is recovering from an injury she sustained in a fall. Mishik is a lifelong country music fan, and she and Brooks connected over their mutual ties to the military, classic country songs and love of country music.
Brooks sang Mishik and her daughter a couple of songs during the virtual visit, and when the patient told him how much she loved to dance, he promised to take her dancing in Nashville when she was healed.
“My mother is one of the most incredible women and meeting Garth was an incredible experience,” said Mishik’s daughter Audrey Parente. “Music helps you put your mind somewhere else, especially country music; it gets down into your bones – and I’m hoping it will heal my mother’s bones!”
Musicians On Call (MOC) is a nonprofit that delivers live and recorded music to patients’ bedsides in healthcare facilities nationwide. MOC is celebrating the milestone of reaching 1 million people through its programs, including the Bedside Performance Program, Virtual Bedside Performance Program and Music Pharmacy. The organization uses music to promote the healing process for hospital patients and their family members and offer moments of relief for caregivers. More than 800 volunteers and hundreds of recording artists have participated in these programs over the past 23 years.
