Summer Junior Volunteer Program applications available

Press Release – Campbell County Health’s Junior Volunteer Program offers young people ages 13-18 an opportunity to learn new skills, give back to the community, make new friends and have fun all at the same time.
Applications are available each May and up to 40 volunteers are accepted into the program, which begins in June. Most volunteers end their service as the new school year begins in the fall, while a few opt to volunteer in the winter months.
Volunteers are expected to spend at least three hours a week with the organization. They are assigned to work in many different departments including Child Care, Environmental Services, Medical Records, Nutrition Services, and The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Cetner among others. They also complete special projects such sell popcorn as a way to make money for the CCH Volunteer Services Scholarship program.
In 2014, more than 40 junior volunteers contributed 884 hours volunteering 10 weeks from June-August. In 2013, the program enrolled more than 45 teens who gave a total of 1,564 volunteer hours. In 2013, the program enrolled nearly 50 teens and gave a total of 1,855.4 volunteer hours.

Summer Junior Volunteer Program applications available
There are openings for about 40 young people in the CCH Summer Junior Volunteer program. Youth ages 13-18 must apply by Friday, May 12 and the program runs from June 5-August 4. All applicants must participate in an interview and attend orientation on Wednesday, May 31.
Junior volunteers help out in all areas of the organization, working with children in the Childcare Center and residents at The Legacy. Employees always appreciate the weekly popcorn sales in the summer, which raise funds for the Volunteer Services Scholarship Program, which awards two $1,000 scholarships each year to high school students.
