Press Release – The Rockpile Museum kicks off their 2017 Summer Series on June 10th with “Who is Aunt Lou?” They invite you to join them to hear the true story of a former Tennessee slave who became a successful and well-respected hotel owner/operator in the Black Hills.

Joyce Jefferson, a South Dakota Humanities scholar, will portray Lucretia Marchbanks at a 10:00 a.m. performance at the Museum. “Who Is Aunt Lou?” will explore the life of this amazing pioneer woman who could neither read nor write, but managed to purchase and operate the Rustic Hotel in Sawpit Gulch, just down the road from Deadwood.

Jefferson has spent two decades showcasing the lives of phenomenal women who overcame the most challenging circumstances to accomplish the extraordinary. Don’t miss this free, illuminating program on June 10th at the Rockpile Museum.
