Press Release – Secretary of State Ed Murray will address the Wyoming Economic Development Association (WEDA) and the Wyoming State Chamber of Commerce at their “Wyoming Working Together Conference” on Friday, September 22nd in Laramie. Secretary Murray will present a new opportunity for Wyoming entrepreneurs and businesses to raise capital financing through Wyoming Invests Now (WIN).
“Wyoming is ranked as one of the best places to start a new business, but Wyoming is also ranked dead last for access to capital for businesses. Equity Crowdfunding through our program called WIN – Wyoming Invests Now – will help entrepreneurs and business owners by providing them with a new source of capital. WIN gives small businesses the opportunity to raise up to $2 million dollars in capital by turning to local investors for financial backing,” said Secretary Murray.
Crowdfunding raises money from a number of people for startups and various projects, but most online crowdfunding platforms do not offer any monetary return for contributors. WIN, however, will provide equity crowdfunding options that were previously unavailable because of prohibitive regulations on investments. Recent legislation in Wyoming, advanced by the Secretary of State’s Office, opened up crowdfunding as new means to acquire capital in Wyoming.
“My Office is excited to oversee WIN as we continue to maintain Wyoming’s business friendly reputation and facilitate economic development,” stated Secretary Murray.
The Secretary of State’s Office will assist with any questions surrounding the process for getting started with WIN, and reminds potential investors that, as with any investment opportunity, there are risks involved.
