BLM seeks to change methane rules

Press Release – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) announced that it is proposing to replace its methane venting and flaring rule from oil and gas operations on federal and Indian land with requirements similar to those that were in force prior to the 2016 final rule.

U.S. Senator Mike Enzi agreed with the change.

“The methane venting and flaring rule imposed by the Obama Administration was part of an anti-fossil fuel agenda,” Enzi said. “The regulations were unnecessary, duplicative and overly burdensome. Full implementation would stifle energy development and economic growth, hurting those communities around the country that rely on the oil and gas industry for their livelihood. I am glad to see the BLM taking steps to repeal the rule.”
