Weather and Red Cross Events Coming Up
Written by broebling on May 1, 2018
Tuesday, May 1st, the Red Cross will be showing the 1996 Helen Hunt movie “Twister” at the library, beginning at 6:30 p.m. “Family Movie Night” will include movie snacks and tornado preparedness info. A similar event in Wright mid-day last Saturday had 27 people turn out, and there was a lot of great information for all ages. CCEMA Coordinator David King will be on hand to talk about Weather Radios, and will have a variety of them on display to show you the variety of choices there are. Bring the family and friends for Movie Night.
On Tuesday night, May 8th starting at 7 p.m. we will have the annual Severe Summer Weather Training Class, often referred to as a Spotters Class, and it also will be at the Library. This year will feature Warning Coordination Meteorologist Susan Sanders of the Rapid City Forecast Office of the National Weather Service with the latest info on what you should be looking for when severe weather threatens this summer…and the safety steps you should follow when severe weather is in the area.
And, on Wednesday night, May 16th at 6:30pm at the Community Room at Campbell County Fire Department Station One the Red Cross we will have some training in Government Operations and how the Red Cross interacts with their partners. This is being predicted to be a busy fire year in our region, and the Red Cross is working to build up their volunteer numbers and prepare them for deployments as disasters strike. All Red Cross Volunteers, and anyone interested in possibly being a Red Cross Volunteer is welcome to attend.
