Safe Kids Campbell County Booster Seat Give-A-Way
Written by broebling on August 3, 2018
Press Release – Safe Kids Campbell County has an overstock of adjustable (high back to low back) child booster seats for vehicles and wants to give them away to those in need, while supplies last.
Families must make an appointment with Campbell County Health Emergency Medical Services (EMS) at 307.688.SAFE (7233). Appointments take place every Wednesday in August from 3-6 pm at the EMS Base, 502 Stocktrail Avenue in Gillette. Participants are asked to bring the child, their current car/booster seat and the vehicle that they normally travel in for the safety seat check performed by a certified child passenger technician. Inspection time takes around 30 minutes.
Guidelines issued by the American Academy of Pediatrics in 2011 recommend that kids use a booster seat until they are at least 4’9” tall (57 inches) and weigh between 80 and 100 pounds. According to Wyoming Child Restraint Laws, children must be in a child restraint (car seat or booster seat) until they are 9 years old. Children seated in a booster seat in the back seat of the car are 45% less likely to be injured in a crash than children using a seat belt alone.
Safe Kids Campbell County provides our community with free car seat checks and much more to help educate our children on preventing accidental injuries. Learn more at www.cchwyo.org/safekids.
