Press Release – Jordan Thompson, a Dialysis Technician in the Campbell County Health (CCH) Dialysis Center, received certification as a Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) from the Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission. Jordan has worked for CCH since June 2017.
The Commission exists to establish credentialing mechanisms to promote patient safety and improve the quality of care provided to nephrology (kidney care) patients. The commission provides six different examinations to validate clinical performance for nurses and technicians, including CCHT.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and successfully complete classroom instruction and supervised clinical experience in dialysis before completing the CCHT exam. After receiving certification CCHTs must recertify every three years, complete 30 hours of continuing education and accumulate 3,000 hours of work experience during the three-year period.
The CCH Dialysis Center currently provides hemodialysis services to 26 patients in the community. Dr. Robert Neuwirth, of Campbell County Medical Group Nephrology and Complex Medicine, serves as the medical director. Learn more about dialysis at www.cchwyo.org/kidney.
