Press Release – The City of Gillette is pleased to announce that Deputy Building Official Jim Brown has been re-elected to the
International Code Council Board of Directors. Mr. Brown was selected for a 3-year term by his peers to represent Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, and the Provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. The board is comprised of four officers, eight at-large directors and six sectional directors who all serve the interests of code professionals in the building safety industry through advocacy, education, and research; set the strategic direction for the association; and act as the voice of the association’s 65,000 members across the country and around the world.
“I am proud and humbled to be re-elected to this position,“ Brown remarked. “The ICC is relatively young. We will be setting a course that will take us through 2025. We have very, very exciting times ahead.”
Deputy Building Official Brown joined the City of Gillette in July of 2005. He came to Wyoming from Carroll County, Maryland where he started as a Building Inspector and was promoted to the position of Commercial Plans Examiner. He also served in the United States Air Force as a Life Support Specialist/Forward Air Controller/Survival Instructor, responsible for the inspection and maintenance of aircrew life support equipment such as flight gear, parachutes, survival kits, and ejection seats. He also trained recruits as a survival instructor. He attained the rank of sergeant before returning to civilian life.
