The National Weather Service will be conducting two severe Summer weather classes in Campbell County this year. The classes are free of charge and will cover what to look for in severe summer storms, the mechanisms within the storms which lead to severe weather events and what to look for and how to watch weather safely. The two hour classes will be presented by Susan Sanders, the Warning Coordination Meteorologist for the Rapid City Weather Forecast Office. The first class is on Tuesday, May 14 at 7 p.m. in the Commissioners Chambers at the Courthouse in Gillette. The second is Thursday, May 16 at 7 p.m. at Fire Station 9 in Wright.
The Classes will also kickoff the Campbell County SkyWarn® program initiated this year by the Campbell County Emergency Management Agency (CCEMA). The program will operate with the support of the Rapid City NWS Office and help document real-time weather events.
