Draft Decision for the Buffalo Municipal Watershed Project

Press Release – The Powder River Ranger District of the Bighorn National Forest has released an Environmental Assessment and Draft Decision Notice for the Buffalo Municipal Watershed project.  Acting District Ranger Lou Conroy stated that “through public participation and great input from our local and State partners, we are proposing a suite of treatments to improve Buffalo’s municipal watershed to reduce future wildfire severity and its potential impacts to the watershed”.   The documents are available on the Forest’s website at https://www.fs.usda.gov/project/?project=50871 under the “Analysis” tab for this project.  A 45 day objection period has begun, and a final decision will likely be issued in September.  For further information, contact Jon Warder, project team leader, at jwarder@fs.fed.us or 307-674-2631.
