City of Gillette Finance Division Earns Highest Achievement

Written by on October 18, 2018

Press Release – The City of Gillette Finance Division has earned the Certificate of Achievement of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association. This is the sixth year in a row and 19th time overall that the City’s Finance Division has been recognized by the GFAO. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. This award goes to less than 20% of the GFAO membership.

“What this means is that staff is diligent in what they do. They are very accurate; they’re timely. The accounting is spot on,” said City Administrator Patrick Davidson. “What that means for you is that we are very transparent. We are very open. We can account for the dollars; how they come in and where they’re spent. And that becomes very important in this day and age when there are a lot of claims as to whether or not we are transparent. This is the recognition of that transparency.”
