Fatality Confirmed In Explosion

Press Release – On October 31, 2018 at 1:58 p.m. The Campbell County Fire Department responded to the area of mm 132 N Hwy 59 for a reported explosion at an oil processing site.  Firefighters arrived at a water treatment facility with fire involved in 10 large oil tanks, 2 passenger vehicles, 2 semi-trucks, 3 buildings, 2 full 1,700-gallon propane tanks, and brush and grass surrounding the site. 16 firefighters and 2 command officers had contained and extinguished the fire by 1 a.m.  One fatality was confirmed and the investigation has been turned over to Occupational Health and Safety Administration.
