Weekend Shooting Of Teen Under Investigation

Press Release – At 7:12 pm on November 17th, the Gillette Police Department was dispatched to the 100 block of Ross Ave. Gillette Police Lieutenant Brent Wasson said a 13-year-old male was shot in the shoulder. Wasson said the bullet traveled into the teen’s upper chest. He was life-flighted from Gillette to Billings.

Wasson said a 24-year-old male was “handling” the 9mm Ruger at the time of the shooting. The circumstances surrounding the discharge of the firearm remain under investigation. There were no charges as of early Monday morning. Updates on the investigation will be provided when they are made available.

Wasson said the two males are related.
